Véronique Locci

Sculptures

“The shapes I give to my spheres are the reflection of my emotions.” These are the words of Véronique Locci with regard to her art focused on glass, whose appeal is born from its reflection, its brilliance and its symbolism.

From her Parisian studio, the sculptor works concave glass as if it had the malleability of paper. She twists it, melts it, covers it and sometimes dresses it with inlays that give the piece a psychological dimension, capturing the subject in the plurality of angles it projects. From glass melted in Murano, the artist gives life to her spherical compositions that question light through reflection and whose color makes them diverted mirrors, similar to a trompe-l’oeil.

“The round is feminine, delicate, sensual, like the curves of a woman. It invites you to escape, you would like to go through it to see what is hidden there”, confides Véronique Locci, whose work is transcended by the motif of roundness, which is invited on each piece as a formative if not maternal element.

“In my work, everything is round and everything blends into the delicacy of the curve. It is a sign of life, of communion, of renewal.”

Somewhere between the illusion of infinity created by the reflection and the play of textures, notably the work “Fusion”, a glass sphere crossed by 24 carat gold leaves, Véronique Locci’s pieces testify to her passion for creating universes in a glass sculpture, a material born from a few grains of sand.
